Many Afghani families have arrived in Milton Keynes this week with nothing but the clothes they were wearing. They are being housed and fed in a hotel. Due to the generosity of the people of MK, many donations of clothes, toys etc have been received for them.
Paul Trendall, MK Borough Councillor, has advised that they have paused taking donations to give the opportunity to process what they have received, and to see where the gaps are in what is needed.
Newport Pagnell Baptist Church and Namji Milton Keynes have also paused taking donations.
There will be a pop-up drop off point on Sunday 29.08.21 between 10:00 and 17:00 at The Coffee Hall Mosque, Trubys Garden, Coffee Hall, Milton Keynes MK6 5HA.
At the moment they are very close to having enough. They anticipate that will change if more families arrive, and if this happens they will put out another call for help. This is a pause, it doesn’t feel like “job done” yet. So watch this space!
