“Milton Keynes is a huge and rapidly growing city that’s set to become an important new regional centre for the UK…
Situated right at the heart of the new Oxford-Milton Keynes-Cambridge arc, Milton Keynes will be home to a new university and a population of 500,000 by 2030, making the city larger than some dioceses in the Church of England.
It’s vital that the Church is ready for the challenges and opportunities the city will face in the coming years. A new deanery plan, initiated by the Deanery Mission and Pastoral Committee, is envisaged to achieve just that.
Developing a formal deanery plan for Milton Keynes has prompted reconsideration of the focus areas for our common vision. With some activities falling within other workstreams, particularly the new congregations work, it has been agreed that Celebrating and Blessing Milton Keynes will no longer be a standalone focus area. But we’re no less excited for what God has in store for this incredible city!
Watch Revd Catherine Butt from St Frideswide’s talking about the challenges and opportunities of parish life in Milton Keynes and how the congregation is ‘giving itself away’ as a diocesan resourcing hub in our new congregations video.”
