|Following on from a pilgrimage walk around Oxford Archdeaconry in 2018 and Berkshire Archdeaconry in 2019, Bishop Steven Croft, Bishop of Oxford, is walking and cycling across the three deaneries of north Buckingham Archdeaconry – Buckingham, Newport and Milton Keynes – over five days at the beginning of September. Like many things, the pilgrimage was originally planned for 2020 but had to be moved on a year. |
Bishop Steven writes;
I’m beginning my sixth year as Bishop of Oxford by walking and praying across the three deaneries of Buckingham, Newport and Milton Keynes, ahead of plans to spend time in every deanery over the winter and spring. You are very welcome to join me on this pilgrimage, in spirit or in person. The pilgrimage sets off on 31 August in Buckingham Deanery, followed by Newport on 1 September and then 2, 3 and 5 September in Milton Keynes (please note, cycling rather than walking on Thursday 2 Sept).
I will be praying in each of the 31 churches we visit for the renewal of our life and ministry, and especially for the renewal of the ministry of teaching the faith to new Christians. I will be praying for the renewal of the life of our nation as we come to terms with all that is happening through the pandemic. I will be listening to God as I walk, and to ordinary (but extraordinary) church life across these three deaneries.
The Rt Revd Dr Steven Croft, Bishop of Oxford
